2021/2022
In collaboration with Family Frontiers, the UM Consti Team organised the second screening of "Saya Juga Anak Malaysia" on 13 May 2022, a short film about one mother's years-long struggle to pass on her Malaysian citizenship to her daughter. The aim of the screening and forum discussion was to shed light on the effects of gender-discriminatory citizenship laws on Malaysian women, their children and the family unit. We were truly honoured to have Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi, Ms Patricia Low and Ms Corina Robert Mangharam as our speakers for the forum discussion.
The UM Consti Team (UMCT) organised an infographic competition entitled "The Constitution & Us: Infographic Artistry for our Community!" From 5 -26 March 2022 as part of our Virtual Constitutional Carnival. The submissions were evaluated by our guest judge, Dr Hameedullah Asri, as well as the High Committee members of UMCT.
The UM Moot Club and the UM Consti Team successfully organised the Internal Malaya Constitutional Moot Competition (IMCMC) 2022 virtually from 8 to 10 April 2022 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The aim of the competition was to encourage Novice mooters to kickstart their mooting journey and to learn more about Malaysian Constitutional Law. The competition also served to provide a great platform for all participants to hone their advocacy skills and receive constructive feedback from our guest judges.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the judges who spent their valuable weekend adjudicating this competition!
On the 19th of March 2022, the UM Consti Team organised a webinar, “Execute Justice Not People: The Death Penalty Debate” in conjunction with the Virtual Constitutional Carnival 2022.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the esteemed speakers, Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi, Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, and Adjunct Prof Philip Koh Tong Ngee, for providing insight on the topic of the death penalty in Malaysia. We would also like to thank Dr Sharon Kaur for moderating this webinar!
We hope that the webinar has been eye-opening to all participants.
On the 12th of March 2022, the UM Consti Team, in collaboration with the Malaysian Bar Council’s Constitutional Law Committee, organised a panel session, “Stop The Hop! : Is Anti-Hopping Law the Solution Forward?” in conjunction with the Virtual Constitutional Carnival 2022.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the distinguished panellists, Mr Nimalan Devaraja and Mr Joshua Wu for sharing their insights on the possibilities of implementing anti-hopping laws in Malaysia. We would also like to thank Dr Sheila Ramalingam for moderating this event!

On the 12th of December 2021, Ecolawgy UM in collaboration with the UM Consti Team, organised a panel session, "What Does The Constitution Say About Preserving The Environment?"
